ESG Through the Eyes of Business: Pilot Training in Chișinău

On 15 October 2026, German Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation (DSIK) held the pilot training “Sustainable Development for MSMEs: Identify Opportunities, Seize Chances” in Chișinău, bringing together representatives of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), business associations, consultants, public institutions and civil society organisations.

The training focused on the practical application of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles in business. Led by Vladislav Naumov, an expert from German Sparkassenstiftung with first-hand experience in the banking sector, the session demonstrated how ESG can serve as a practical management tool to help businesses identify early warning signs, anticipate challenges and address potential risks before they develop into crises.

Although ESG requirements for Moldovan businesses continue to evolve, the training highlighted the value of integrating ESG considerations into everyday business decisions to strengthen resilience, improve operational practices and support sustainable growth.

Through practical exercises, participants explored real business challenges, viewed their activities through an ESG perspective and developed individual 90-day action plans with concrete steps towards more sustainable business practices.

The pilot training marks another step in strengthening ESG knowledge and expertise among Moldovan businesses and the professionals who support them.

The training was implemented by German Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
