On 31 July 2026, Project Manager Andreas Fabrizius participated in the National Sector Conference “Reform of the Savings and Credit Association (SCA) Sector: Consolidation, Access to Financial Services, and Sustainable Development”, organized by the National Central Association.
During the conference, Andreas Fabrizius delivered a presentation on “The German Experience – A Model for Strengthening and Stabilizing the SCA Sector. Lessons from the Experience of Savings Banks (Sparkassen) and Cooperative Banks for the Savings and Credit Association (SCA) Sector.”
The presentation explored the structure and functioning of Germany’s Sparkassen Financial Group and Cooperative Financial Network, emphasizing the role of central institutions in coordination, support, and supervision. It also highlighted monitoring and early intervention mechanisms, deposit protection and institutional stability schemes, access to support mechanisms, and preventive measures that help address challenges before they develop into crises.
The conference brought together representatives of the National Bank of Moldova, savings and credit associations from across the country, international experts, and development partners. It marked an important step in the ongoing reform process by fostering dialogue and sharing international experience to support the development of a stronger, more resilient, and sustainable SCA sector in the Republic of Moldova.
