On December 2nd, 2022, German Sparkassenstiftung Moldova organised a presentation workshop of the Electronic Farm Management Toolbox for Climate Resilience (EMTC), which was and is still elaborated together with the company TRIMETRICA SRL, which is the official local representative of the Esri Inc. Company (Environmental Systems Research Institute, California, USA) – the worldwide leader in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The development of the EMTC is still on-going within the framework of a cooperation between German Sparkassenstiftung Moldova (GSM) and HELVETAS an Swiss financed local NGO. The event was organised to make practitioners from the agricultural sector familiar with the possibilities, opportunities, and benefits of the application of the EMTC. Representatives from different partner organisations and institutions of the GSM, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, National Farmers Federation of Moldova, Technical University of Moldova, the Consolidated Agricultural Projects Management Unit in Moldova, the Research Institute for Field Crops “Selectia”, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and others have been present. Besides the workshop provided detailed information on how the tool could be used, also the actual situation of the agricultural sector in the Republic of Moldova has been discussed. It was recommended and agreed that the present organisations and institutions will further cooperate in connection with the finalisation and introduction of the EMTC and beyond to provide an active contribution to support the agriculture sector in Moldova, since it is of essential importance for the country’s socio-economic development.
This inniative is partially supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Moldova (SDC) through the Optim Project - "Opportunities through technologies and innovation in Moldova" implemented by #Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation.
